Two teenagers remained hospitalized after their sports car plunged into a canal, police said. The two, a man and a woman whom police did not identify, were saved by passersby and police who dove into the murky water and dragged them to shore, said police spokesman Lt. Bill Bamford.
The pair was driving near the intersection of Orange Drive and Flamingo Road just before 9 p.m. They were in a collision with another car and their vehicle rolled into the canal, Bamford said. The teens were taken to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston and then rushed to Broward General Medical Center. The male victim was in serious condition, while the female was in critical condition, Bamford said.
