Man Tossed From Vehicle In SUV Accident And Suffers Critical Injuries

October 21, 2005

An 18-year-old Delray Beach man received life-threatening injuries after being thrown from his Nissan Pathfinder on Interstate 95 near Palmetto Park Road, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 4:20 p.m., the man, traveling northbound in the inside HOV lane, lost control of his SUV after the rear tire separated from the vehicle, said FHP spokesman Lt. Tim Frith. The driver, who was alone, was not wearing his seat belt when the SUV overturned. He was thrown over the barrier wall and landed in the southbound emergency lane, Frith said. The man was taken to Delray Medical Center in serious condition.
