A Pompano Beach man was killed early Sunday when his Cadillac collided with an SUV. Peter Francis Cambra, 39, was driving south on Federal Highway near East Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach about 12:35 a.m. when a 1996 Ford Explorer ran into his car, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. Cambra was thrown from his 1990 Cadillac and died at the scene.
The Explorer, which was headed westbound on East Atlantic Boulevard, rolled over several times before coming to rest about 200 feet from the point of impact. The Explorer's driver, Richen Louise Turner, 37, also of Pompano Beach, suffered minor injuries. Pompano Beach paramedics took her to North Broward Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
Detectives said witnesses told them that Cambra had the right-of-way as the two vehicles approached the intersection. Cambra, originally from Massachusetts, was a resident of Pompano Beach for 10 years, according to BSO. Charges against Turner are pending, BSO officials said.
