The incident happened when workers had been installing a fire hydrant system at Durrance Elementary School in Orange County.
They called 9-1-1 and Orange County fire workers got him out.
Paramedics treated Roedell as soon as they freed him from the clutches of a 4,000-pound chunk of asphalt. Roedell was taken to a hospital.
