Bicyclist Killed In Alturas

A 19-year-old Bartow man died Thursday night, October 20, in an accident on State Road 60, five miles east of Bartow at the intersection of Alturas Road. The accident occurred at 11:34 p.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Corporal Helen McCoy, Anthony L. Lancaster, of 7171 Highway 60 East, was traveling south on a bicycle on SR 60 west of the intersection of Alturas Road, when he crossed the eastbound lanes of SR 60.

Lancaster was struck by a 2001 Ford F150 pick-up truck, driven by Frank C. Yodonis, 59, of Frostproof, and was killed, Helen McCoy said.

Yodonis, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured, McCoy said.
