Woman Injured In Broward Car Crash Settles For $1.75m

October 4, 2005

A 68-year-old woman who was severely injured in a collision in a Broward County intersection settled with the other driver and the vehicle owner for $1.75 million in Arango v. Orans (Case no. 04-19428, Broward County Circuit Court).

Aura Arango sued Rose Orans, whose incautious left turn she claimed caused the crash. She alleged her husband, Irving, suffered a lacerated colon and spleen avulsion. The injuries required multiple surgeries to repair; numerous cervical and lumbar bulges, protrusions, a herniation and a fractured ankle and ribs. She claimed her two adult daughters have been taking care of her ever since, and that she remains deeply depressed. The Orans were insured by Allstate.
