Three Seriously Injured In I-75 Crash

August 5, 2005

A driver and two of his passengers suffered serious injuries in a morning crash on Interstate 75, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The accident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. on northbound I-75 near the Corkscrew Road interchange.

Miguel Bruno, 21, of Fort Myers was driving in the outside lane when the tread separated from the right rear tire of his 1997 Ford, causing him to lose control. The vehicle traveled into the median then began to overturn, as three occupants were ejected into the median, troopers said. Bruno and passengers Jose Arellanos, 20, of Naples and Lionel Martinez, 13, of Bonita Springs suffered serious injuries. Passenger Martin Martinez, 15, of Bonita Springs suffered minor injuries, troopers said. None were wearing seat belts.
