Three Die When Car Hits Motel

January 25, 2006

Three people were killed when their car crashed into a motel this morning near Disney World. The crash happened along the tourist strip of U.S. 192 west of Orlando.

Police say the driver failed to negotiate a turn and slammed into the Golden Link Motel.

The victims were identified as 24-year-old Hector Ruiz, 21-year-old Larry Fernandez and 22-year-old Anna Cruz.

One woman survived the crash and was taken to the hospital. No one inside the motel was injured in the crash.

The motel owner, Ron Matay, said he has complained about the sharp turn after other earlier accidents on state Road 535.

He said a motorcycle once ended up in the motel's swimming pool.

Florida Highway Patrol officers are trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control and hit the building, WKMG reported.
