A 15-year-old boy driving a moped was struck by a motorist and taken to the hospital with serious injuries, officials said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was northbound on Grove Street in Ormond Beach and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Ellisworth Avenue, police Sgt. James Crimins said. The boy drove into the path of the vehicle, whose driver was not injured. The boy was taken by ambulance to Halifax Medical Center. Information on his condition was not available. The 15-year-old was ticketed for violating the right of way, Crimins said. He was licensed to operate the moped.
