North Miami police have arrested a 19-year-old driver in connection with the hit and run that left 74-year-old lady in critical condition.

After hours of questioning, police said that Elis Attilus admitted striking the woman and her 5-year-old granddaughter with her car.

The accident happened early Thursday morning along Northeast 135th Street and 7th Avenue. Rolande Jean-Joseph was walking with her mother and daughter to church when they were struck by Attilus' car.

Her mother, 74-year-old who had just come to the United States from Haiti, is in critical condition and her 5-year-old daughter is bedridden with a broken leg at Ryder Trauma Center.

Attilus is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, and driving without a valid license.
