Police Seek Hit And Run Driver

One person was killed by a hit and run driver, and police are still looking for a Toyota van and its blonde, heavyset female driver.

The accident took place on Friday, August 5, when Arthur Maurer, 58, 9790 66th Street, was crossing 66th Street near Park Boulevard.

Officer Michael Nicholson said that Arthur Maurer was struck by the side mirror of a southbound car driven by Heather Forcier of St. Petersburg.

Police said that Heather Forcier pulled over and ran to assist the victim when a white Toyota van with a gold stripe on the bottom panels hit Arthur Maurer again.

Arthur Maurer died at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, of head and other injuries a day after the August 5 accident.

Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene after striking Maurer.

Police needs public help.
