Passenger Died In Auto Crash

A Jacksonville man who was a passenger in a car which was involved in an accident died in the Southside accident Saturday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Nicholas B. Jeffries, 19, died after the car he was riding in hit a guardrail on Saturday at about 2 a.m. on the west shoulder of Florida 9A near Atlantic Boulevard.

The car's driver, Benjaman N. Lawson, 22, was taken to a hospital in Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. His condition was unclear Saturday.

Another passenger, Matthew Coole, 18, was not injured, troopers said.
