Clyde Lampman, a Macclenny resident, was flown to Shands Jacksonville with critical injuries after a mid-morning accident on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at the intersection of State Route 228 and Jonathan Street in Macclenny.
Mr. Lampman, 82, was traveling east on Jonathan Street apparently failed to see a van approaching and pulled into its path.
According to the initial report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the van, Kristine Brown, 24, of Jacksonville attempted to brake to avoid a collision, but the front of the van hit right at the driver's door sending the car into a nearby light pole.
Mr. Lampman was critically wounded and flown to Shands Jacksonville.
