Collision with Car Kills Motorcyclist
August 19, 2005
A motorcyclist was killed on Haverhill Road at Vilma Lane, Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials said.
The driver of a Ford Probe coupe apparently changed lanes in front of motorcyclist Richard A. Mullin, 36, of West Palm Beach, as Mullin rapidly approached the Ford, investigator Scott Ratliff said. Both were going south on Haverhill about 9:50 p.m. Mullin crashed into the car and was ejected from the bike.
Although he was wearing a helmet, it slipped off during the collision and he died at the scene, Ratliff said. The car's driver, Steven Peavey, 35, of West Palm Beach, sustained minor injuries. Ratliff said. He was arrested on unrelated driving violations.
